A four-year-old was accepted into Mensa, the society of the smartest people in the world, after learning to read when he was only two years old.
Now Teddy can count to 100 in seven different languages, including Chinese.
The British boy has been a member of the society since the age of three, making him the youngest member of the organization in the UK.
Mensa accepts people who score at or above the 98th percentile on an intelligence test.
This was announced by Teddy’s mother Beth Hobbs. BBC that the boy learned to read at only 26 months, “watching children’s television and copying the sounds of the letters.”
Beth also says that when Teddy returned to the nursery after imprisonment, the caregivers were warned that the boy could already read. “We got a call from the kindergarten, who sent a teacher to check, who said yes, he can read!” he says.
“He’s starting to realize that his friends still can’t read, and he doesn’t know why,” Mrs. Wilson said. Hobbs adds: “If he can do these things, then fine, but he sees it this way: we all have our individual talents.”
