NATO announced this Thursday the start next week of large-scale military maneuvers, the largest in Europe “in decades,” which will last several months and will involve about 90 thousand Atlantic Alliance troops.
Dubbed Steadfast Defender 2024, which will last until May, the maneuvers will involve not only troops from the organization’s 31 member states, but also Sweden, which is in the process of joining.
“The alliance will demonstrate its ability to strengthen the Euro-Atlantic area through the transatlantic deployment of forces from North America. This strengthening will occur within the framework of a simulated scenario of an emerging conflict” against the enemy, said the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces.
