A rare video about North Korea shows two 16-year-old North Korean students sentenced to 12 years of hard labor for watching and distributing soap operas and films produced in South Korea.
According to the agency Reuterswho published the video despite guaranteeing that he could not independently verify it, the two students are put on trial in front of hundreds of their colleagues.
According to ReutersThe video says the students are being tried for watching and distributing dozens of films, soap operas and music videos of South Korea’s “puppet regime.” The video also criticizes North Korean women who have adopted fashion and “foreign clothing” such as dyed hair, shorts, tight pants and flip-flops. Fashion, which, judging by the video, is influenced by South Korean propaganda and Western capitalist countries.
According to the South-North Development Institute (SAND), the video is titled “Let us intensify efforts to eradicate all reactionary and non-socialist forms and phenomena” and was created for educational purposes.
