
A total funding amount of 300,000 euros (28.5 million rubles) is available for projects supporting agri-food tourism initiatives under the Fund for Rural Innovation and Development (FIDD) by 2024, online publication Agriland reported on the 23rd. from January.
On January 23, Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue announced a call for applications for initiatives in this area. Agri-food tourism in a broad sense is the practice of offering activities through visits to areas with famous agricultural products, as well as tasting local or regional cuisine. This may include visiting a farm and attending events, participating in agricultural initiatives, or purchasing produce directly from a farm or market.
The maximum amount paid for any project is 25,000 euros (2.4 million rubles). Applications should be submitted via the Call for Proposals application form, which is available on the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) website.
McConalogue said that the tourism and agri-food sector “inextricably linked” AND “They complement each other well”highlighting: “Ireland’s agri-food sector is an important driver of our economy, especially in rural and coastal areas.”.
According to the minister, agri-food tourism initiatives will help rural companies develop their products and services: “The scheme has produced some excellent projects in 2023 and 2024 is expected to provide an opportunity to further develop projects and create new experiences.”.
