Four fishermen were rescued from the sea this morning after the fishing boat they were on sank off Vila Praia de Ancora.
NCIS was alerted at 3:30 a.m., and an hour later, four passengers from the Castro were rescued by members of another fishing vessel involved in the search.
One of the fishermen was taken to the Viana do Castelo hospital with hypothermia; the rest did not require hospital care.
A relative of the captain of the Castro vessel alerted authorities after he was unable to contact the fishing vessel.
Navy resources moved several vessels to Vila Praia de Ancora, and at 4:40 a.m. one of the vessels involved in the search discovered an overturned boat containing four fishermen.
The fishermen were dropped off at Portinho de Vila Praia de Ancora at 5:20 am.
