The Mozambican police announced this Friday the arrest in the city of Beira, Sofala province, of four people accused of crimes of murder and trafficking in human organs committed against a person with albinism.
“They were found with human bones ready to be sold on the black market worth 15 million metics. [216 mil euros]”Alfeu Sitoe, spokesman for the provincial National Criminal Investigation Service (Sernik), said at a press conference.
Sitoe added that the detainees, who confessed to the crime, lured the victim with homemade liquor and, after getting drunk, beat him to death.
“The body was buried for two days. On the third day we returned to the cemetery to remove the bones,” he explained.
Two perpetrators of the murder and two negotiators were arrested as they sought a “buyer” for organs often used in acts of traditional witchcraft, Sernik’s spokesman said.
