Evidence provided by Helge Busching in 2019 led to the arrest of Christian Brückner for two offenses of rape, one of which was committed against a North American woman at the victim’s home in Praia da Luz in Lagos. During the trial, the witness said that he found a video camera with footage of the rapes in the attacker’s house.
According to Helge Busching’s statement to German police, Christian Brückner told him in 2008 about his involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann a year earlier in Lagos. “I thought it was strange that she didn’t scream,” the attacker admitted.
Christian Brückner is serving a seven-year prison sentence. A trial in a sexual assault case against several adult women and a minor is scheduled for February.
