The results of the women’s saber fencing team competition became known on January 28 in Novosibirsk, the press service of the Russian Fencing Federation reported.
The winner of the tournament was the mixed team “Russia-1”, which included athletes from different regions: Yana Egoryan (Khimki), Maria Zinyukhina (Togliatti), Anna Smirnova (Barnaul), as well as the reserve Milena Sergeeva (Penza).
In the final Russia-1 faced the first team from the Novosibirsk region. The match was even, the teams took turns taking the lead, but at the end of the match, the big victories of Zinyukhina and Smirnova led to the victory of the “Russian team” with 45:40.
In the match for third place, the first team from Moscow confidently defeated the second team from the Novosibirsk region with a score of 45:28. A total of 15 teams participated in the tournament, including the teams of Belarus and Kazakhstan, which took 9th and 15th place respectively.
