Police in the US state of Indiana were called to intervene on Saturday after a truck carrying ten circus animals caught fire on a highway.
The fire alarm was raised around 2:00 am. The truck was transporting animals from Florida to four circus shows over the weekend in the northeastern Indiana city.
A police officer, a Grant County deputy and a circus employee were able to rescue five zebras, four camels and a horse. The animals were safely removed and taken to the Fort Wayne Coliseum, a venue used for performances in Indiana.
The men involved in the rescue efforts were taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation.
According to police, the fire occurred due to equipment malfunction.
