Betty Brussel, a 99-year-old Canadian woman, broke three world records in just one day. Although Betty wasn’t the fastest at last weekend’s meet, she set a world record in the 400m freestyle in the 100-104 age group, running four minutes faster than the previous record holder. On the same day, the Canadian also set records in the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke.
“When I run, I don’t think about anything. I don’t think about anything. I just count the laps so I know how many laps I have left. I always try to find a pace that I can maintain. – These races take a lot from the body. And on the last lap I give everything I have,” he said. The keeper.
The competition takes into account the participants’ year of birth to determine which category they should compete in, so Betty competed in the 100–104 age category, even though she is still 99 years old.
