This Monday, Iran denied any involvement in the attack carried out by Proteheran militias that killed three American soldiers on the Jordan-Syria border on Saturday night, prompting the US president to vow retribution.
“These accusations are being made for a political purpose aimed at changing the realities of the region,” an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement quoted by Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
The accusations “also demonstrate the influence of third parties, including the Zionist regime, which kills children,” Nasser Kanaani added, referring to Israel, which has been involved in a war with the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip since October 7.
