At least four people were killed and five injured when a bomb exploded on Tuesday in southern Pakistan’s Balochistan province at a rally organized by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
“Four people were killed and five were injured. The explosion occurred during a PTI rally. According to preliminary investigations, the bomb was planted in advance,” PTI Senior Superintendent of Police Inayat Ullah Bangulzai told Spanish news agency EFE. .the city of Sibi, where the attack took place.
The political party “strongly condemned the bombing”, which has yet to be claimed by any armed group, and called for an investigation into the incident, accusing the government of escalating violence in the country ahead of the February 8 elections.
