The BRICS delegation was received by Niger’s Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamin Zein on February 1, according to the official website of the country’s governing body, the National Council for the Defense of the Fatherland.
The Prime Minister received a delegation from the interstate association that had arrived on an official visit. The meeting with representatives of the BRICS was also attended by the Minister of Transport, the Minister of Commerce and the Deputy Minister of Finance.
The parties discussed several important issues, including strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Niger and the BRICS countries.
Niger, a landlocked country rich in raw materials, is seeking to diversify its partnerships to accelerate its industrial development and transport infrastructure. In this sense, the BRICS countries are important partners, says the official statement.
Please note that as of January 1, 2024, in addition to Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, the BRICS now include countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia.
