This Tuesday, the Brazilian Federal Police carried out court orders in Sao Paulo and Curitiba as part of an investigation into the secret adoption of children in Portugal, which is part of an operation to combat international human trafficking.
In a statement, Brazilian police said the protests took place in the cities of Sao Paulo and Curitiba.
According to the same note, the investigation to date has revealed that “a Brazilian national residing in the city of Curitiba arranged for the sale of her child, still in the womb, to a Portuguese national, the woman arriving in Portugal a few days before the date of birth and birth of a child in this country.” Shortly after giving birth, “she returned to Brazil and left the baby in a European country,” the report adds.
