On Wednesday, an agreement was signed to buy a number of newspapers and magazines from GMG by a group of investors and businessmen led by Diogo Freitas, ensuring that January salaries will begin to be paid to workers this Wednesday.
Lusa contacted journalists from several publications of the Global Media group, who reported that salaries from the Jornal de Notícias (JN), TSF, Diário de Notícias (DN) and others were already being paid.
An official company source also confirmed to Lusa the processing of salaries.
It remains to be seen when the Christmas bonus payment will be made and there are still staff who have not received payments for November and some for October, a source contacted by Lusa said.
On Friday, shareholders Marco Galinha, Kevin Ho, Mendes Ferreira and José Pedro Soeiro announced that there was a “principle of mutual understanding” to find a solution for Global Media and that salaries would be paid by the 7th.
Diogo Freitas leads a group of investors and businessmen from Portugal who on January 12 expressed interest in buying JN, O Jogo, JN História, Notícias Magazine, Evasões and Volta do Mundo, as well as most of the capital of Sociedade Notícias Direct. as well as TFS.
The agreement includes the purchase of “JN, TSF and other smaller magazines,” according to a statement released last month.
