A 51-year-old man was detained in pre-trial detention for domestic violence against his 49-year-old ex-partner in Ovar, Aveiro district, GNR said on Tuesday.
GNR said in a statement that the arrest occurred on Friday as part of a complaint that the suspect was driving to the victim’s work.
“[O objetivo era] violate their physical integrity,” the military police said in a statement.
Once the facts were confirmed, the suspect was arrested and it was determined that the alleged attacker was forced to submit to the removal of the victim, a measure in place since July last year.
According to the GNR, the detainee was named as an accused and was present at the Aveiro Judicial Court on Saturday and was subject to preventive detention.
GNR takes this opportunity to remember that domestic violence is a social crime and reporting it is a collective responsibility.
Complaints can be submitted through the Electronic Complaints Portal, by calling 112, or at the GNR post office nearest to your place of residence.
There is also an “App MAI112” application designed exclusively for deaf citizens, as well as an “SMS Security” application for the same purpose.
