Hundreds of farmers demonstrated in central Sofia on Tuesday, blocking traffic, unhappy with an agreement reached between the Bulgarian government and industry representatives to compensate for losses due to the war in Ukraine.
The new protest came a day after the government and agricultural associations announced the signing of an agreement on the issue, which apparently did not satisfy all farmers, public radio BNR reported, citing the EFE news agency.
The signing of the document was announced on Monday evening by Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov and representatives of the Bulgarian Chamber of Agriculture, the National Association of Grain Producers and the National Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders.
