The president of Lusa’s board of directors said this Thursday that the purchase of the agency by the state, which did not take place in 2023 due to lack of political consensus, is a delayed opportunity that he hopes to see resumed by the next government.
“For me it was a deferred opportunity that I hope will be renewed,” confirmed Joaquim Carreira on the sidelines of the presentation of the 2023 yearbook, which took place this Thursday in the Porto City Council and which, for the third year in a row, arrives in bookstores to take stock year and highlight some of the work of Lusa journalists.
Believing that the deal’s failure to close was not the outcome he expected, the administrator, however, realized that the discussion around him had led to much more talk about agency and its importance in the social communications landscape.
