This Friday, Portugal confirmed a new case of measles in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, bringing the total number of cases recorded since January 11 to 9, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) said in a statement.
The new imported case concerns a 16-year-old young man, not resident in Portugal and not vaccinated against measles, who was laboratory confirmed at the Instituto Nacional Saud Dutor Ricardo Jorge in Lisbon.
On Thursday, the DGS announced the confirmation of a new case of measles in the Northern region, in a woman with a history of traveling abroad during the incubation period of the disease, with no known link to cases confirmed this year.
According to the DGS, nine cases of measles have been confirmed since January 11: six in the Northern region and three in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region.
