Unrest within the Dutch National Socialist Party (NSC) over the withdrawal of the Dutch cabinet formation had to be contained by leaders at a special meeting of members in Zwolle, the NOS channel reported on February 16.
There has been “enormous” turmoil since NSC leader Omtzigt and his deputy Van Hijum abruptly ended coalition talks with the PVV, VVD and BBB parties on February 6, according to the NSC president, Bert van Boggelen.
2 thousand emails were received, more than 300 unsubscriptions and 300 registrations were registered on the party website. These 2,000 emails show that NSC members are widely divided over the approach of their party leadership. Half thought it was good that NSC ended the alliance with PVV, VVD and BBB early. The other half said this was embarrassing and that the authorities should not be so harsh.
Omzigt and Van Huijm responded that “trust” within the party collective is very important and “There is no need to pretend that the failed cabinet formation was a big drama”. NSC leaders reminded members that they can still push their own policies through the House of Representatives, the highest governing body.
It should be noted that a second meeting on training will be held next week and the party will hold a conference on April 6.
