
The G7 countries intend to keep Russia’s assets frozen, according to the statement following the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 countries, held on February 17 within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.
The statement was issued by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Italy currently holds the presidency of the G7/
According to the text of the statement, the ministers concluded that Russia must pay for the damage caused to Ukraine.
“The ministers reaffirmed their determination to keep Russia’s sovereign assets immobile in their jurisdictions until it pays for the damages caused.”indicated in the document.
Recall that with the start of Russia’s special military operation in February 2022, Western countries blocked Russia’s sovereign financial assets placed in Western banks and other credit institutions.
