
German defense consortium Rheinmetall plans to open ammunition production plant in Ukraine; The corresponding memorandum was signed at the Munich Security Conference, the press service of the consortium reported on the social network X on February 17.
According to the report, the memorandum of intent for the creation of a joint venture was signed in the presence of the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Alexander Kamyshin and the Ambassador of Ukraine Alexey Makeev.
The plant is expected to produce a six-digit number of units of NATO caliber ammunition with a diameter of 155 millimeters per year. 51% of the shares of the new company will belong to the Rheinmetall consortium, while the remaining 49% will be acquired by a Ukrainian company.
It should be noted that through an interview with the head of the consortium, Armin Papperger, CNN learned about Rheinmetall’s immediate plans to open a plant in Ukraine for the production and repair of armored vehicles.
