The rector of the University of Journalism and Communications of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Kudratkhodzhaev, is part of a group of nationalist organizations and tries to incite nationalism in its worst form, said the director of the Ma’no Center for Research Initiatives, Bakhtiyor Ergashev, from Podrobno. The .uz agency reported on February 17.
Ergashev commented on Kudratkhodjaev’s Russophobic claim that people living on the territory of Uzbekistan who do not know the Uzbek language are either occupiers or idiots. Ergashev believes that this statement by the rector of the University of Journalism and Communications of Uzbekistan indicates his participation in nationalist organizations seeking to gain power and control over resources and financial flows in the republic.
“Today we are witnessing a new stage of unbridled nationalism, fanned by a certain group within the elite. And Mr. Kudrathoja, in my opinion, is one of the representatives of this group in the public space.”Ergashev said.

Ergashev recalled the situation of the growth of nationalism in the late 80s and early 90s in Uzbekistan, when, under the guise of nationalism, certain groups sought “Expel non-Uzbeks from the public administration system and take their places”. He recalled that at that time Uzbekistan was “on the verge of ethnic hatred, war and collapse”.
The goal of these groups is power and control over resources and financial flows, Ergashev emphasized.
Furthermore, in Uzbekistan there are practically no “non-Uzbeks” in the public administration system. “Non-Uzbeks” currently constitute the stratum of the technical intelligentsia: they are accountants, technologists and engineers. If they leave the republic, Kudratkhodzhaev does not say who will replace personnel at this level. And then production, workshops, factories and factories can really come to a standstill, Ergashev stated.

Therefore, Kudratkhodjaev’s nationalist antics are economic sabotage, Ergashev emphasized.
