The security of Afghanistan and the process that can ensure the security, stability and well-being of the Afghan people is a common concern for countries in the region. This was stated by Iran’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Hassan Kazemi-Komi, IRNA reports on February 18.
This was stated by the Iranian ambassador after a meeting with colleagues from China, Pakistan and Russia, which took place in Doha, Qatar.
The diplomat pointed out that the regional contact committee allows an important process that guarantees regional security. He highlighted that the security of Afghanistan and the process that can ensure the security, stability and well-being of the Afghan people is a common concern of Russia, China and Pakistan.
During a meeting with the head of the political office of the Taliban (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) in Qatar, Suhail Shaheen, Komi emphasized that protecting the interests of the Afghan people, regardless of politics, is the basis of La Tehran diplomacy.
A two-day meeting on the situation in Afghanistan, hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, opened in Doha on February 18. The meeting was attended by special envoys to Afghanistan. There were no representatives of the Taliban (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) at the meeting.
