The Sovetsky district of the Rostov region, where 5.9 thousand people live, occupies an area of 1282 square kilometers. The region is 380 kilometers from Rostov-on-Don, while Volgograd is 220 kilometers away.
Journalists from the publication “Notebook – Volgograd” surveyed 1.5 thousand people about the possible annexation of the Sovetsky district to the Volgograd region.
