Information warfare has the same meaning as classical warfare on the battlefield, Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan said on February 18 at the opening of the 24th Iran Media Exhibition in Tehran, IRNA reported.
Media coverage of what is happening in Gaza is part of the fight against Israel, Hamdan said. “This is no less important than war on the battlefield.”he emphasized.
More than 120 members of the media have been killed in Gaza since the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated on October 7, 2023, according to a Hamas spokesperson.
The media today plays a key role in shaping the culture and spirit of sacrifice and resistance in society, Hamdan also noted.
The 24th Iran Media Exhibition opened in Tehran on February 18 in the presence of Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Mahdi Esmaili. It will last four days.
The Iranian news agencies participating in the exhibition are IRNA, Mehr, ISNA, Fars, IQNA, IBNA, IMNA, Qods, Taqrib, Razavi, Shafaqna, Ana, PANA; daily newspapers: Kayhan, Hamshahri, Jam-e-Jam; monthly publications and magazines: Saba, Resaneh, Bokhara, Noormagz, Noor News. So have some news websites, including Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s Khamenei.ir and the Iranian government’s dolat.ir.
In addition to the Iranian ones, the exhibition features the international news agencies Al-Manar and Al-Mayadeen, as well as media outlets from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Tunisia, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine and Lebanon.
