In response to Rosselkhoznadzor’s demands to strengthen control over the quality of exported bananas, the Ecuadorian authorities took measures, the agency’s press service reported on February 19.
Based on the information provided, the following measures have been taken:
— The number of phytosanitary inspections has increased.
— A special quarantine zone has been built for the loading of bananas from the plantations.
Previously, on February 16, Rosselkhoznadzor returned to five Ecuadorian companies the right to supply bananas to Russia.
However, the supply will be resumed only after a laboratory examination that will cover the entire list of objects under quarantine.
Recall that at the end of 2023, Rosselkhoznadzor introduced temporary restrictions on the supply of bananas from Ecuador due to the discovery of humpback flies on them.
The Ecuadorian authorities responded quickly to the situation and took the necessary measures to guarantee the safety of the exported products.
Currently, Rosselkhoznadzor continues to monitor the situation and is in close contact with its Ecuadorian colleagues.
Stay tuned.
