The population of Moscow and its region will be approximately 23 million people in 2030, the capital’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, stated on February 19 in his personal blog.
Sobyanin noted that Moscow’s population continues to grow. Today, 13 million people live in Moscow; In 2030, the capital’s population will increase to approximately 14 million people.
According to him, if we add Moscow and the Moscow region, in 2030 approximately 23 million people will live in this agglomeration.
The mayor of Moscow is confident that population growth is a necessary condition for development.
Previously, Rosstat reported that the resident population in Moscow was 13,104,177 people as of January 1, 2023.
Recall that, according to Rosstat, in the period until 2045, Moscow will become the leader in natural population decline, on average per year it will be 31.6 thousand people.
