They are trying to change the mentality of the Germans with the help of the media, convincing them of the inevitability of war, as reported by journalist Thomas Pani in an article published on February 19 in the online magazine Telepolis.
The journalist concludes that the Germans are being quietly militarized and the media is preparing them for war. Thomas believes that at this time the nation is not prepared for war and that preparation is not a quick process. Today most Germans do not like the word “war” and prefer to say “defense”, but preparations have already begun.
The main German media work with readers and viewers. Thomas gives an example. Last week, the morning magazine ARD interviewed one of them in an article titled “More and more people want to become reservists.” In the article, the journalist, avoiding alarming words, talks about preparation for service and the honor of being a reservist. However, readers of the article found that older people, even those over 60, are still suitable and in demand for the most important social tasks of the reservation service.
The Bundeswehr is looking for personnel, for this there is a working group, as announced both on television and in the pages of newspapers and magazines.
According to Thomas Pani, the unification of the nation based on the understanding of the coming war is just beginning. The world will be different. Conversations about military capabilities will not always be as pleasant as in the cozy ARD morning magazine.
