The opening of an exhibition of artistic paintings by Maria Chatelain, daughter of Alexander Ostrovsky, will take place on April 12, the playwright’s birthday, in the Shchelykovo Museum-Reserve in the Kostroma region, on the territory of the Ostrovsky estate , reported the museum director Anna Rodionova. on February 19, TASS reports.
“On the birthday of Alexander Ostrovsky, the exhibition “The History of the Portrait” will open: this is a portrait painted by Ostrovsky’s daughter Maria Alexandrovna Chatelain, a copy of the famous portrait of Vasily Perov.”Rodionova added.
According to Radionova, her daughter played Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky as she knew him and saw him every day.
It should be noted that the exhibition will also include paintings by the writer’s daughter, which are in the museum’s collections. These are mainly landscapes and still lifes.
