A new fraud scheme was discovered in the Astrakhan region, the press service of the regional MFC reported on February 21.
A new fraud scheme was discovered in the Astrakhan region. The scammer introduces himself as an employee of the MFC and reports that a letter has arrived in his name, which is in the office of the “My Documents” center. After a while, you will be asked to provide the shipping number, which will arrive to you via SMS. There is no need to explain that this number is nothing more than a code for your money, which will not be in your account at the same time you dictate it.
The result is the same: theft of personal data, loss of funds and other problems. Therefore, citizens are recommended to be vigilant. Astrakhan residents are reminded that the MFC never requests numbers, codes or other information from SMS messages.
Meanwhile, scammers target local residents every day. For example, the day before, a resident of Astrakhan from the Trusovsky district had about 50 thousand rubles debited from his bank card to an unknown account by an unknown method. According to the man, he did not give the card details to anyone. A librarian from the Volodarsky district decided to earn extra money using the popular messenger and transferred more than 200 thousand rubles to the scammers’ account. But the plan turned out to be unreliable and the woman lost her money.
