The Canadian government intends to make the construction of social housing the basis of its economic strategy, the government’s press service reported on February 23, citing Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland.
“Canada’s economic plan is to build new housing faster and provide the financing needed to move new projects forward.”says the press service.
An example of this type of project is the construction of houses in Winnipeg. They are intended for vulnerable and low-income citizens, including people with disabilities.
Construction began in 2019; For these purposes, 26.2 million dollars (2.45 billion rubles) were allocated through the Affordable Housing Fund. With this money, 119 houses were built. It should be noted that this is not the only project of this type.
The fund for affordable housing accumulates more than 14 billion dollars (1.3 trillion rubles), with which it is planned to build more than 60,000 new houses and renovate 240,000 houses.
Let us keep in mind that the housing problem is one of the most serious in Canada and is aggravated by the growing influx of immigrants to the country.
