The Judicial Police of Setubal arrested two men suspected of drug trafficking and also confiscated a building and two cars in an operation in collaboration with the Lisbon Office and the Leiria Criminal Investigation Department, as announced this Thursday.
According to a statement from the Judicial Police Public Relations Office (PJ), the police operation carried out last Tuesday involved 20 search warrants, nine domestic and eleven non-local, culminating in the arrest of two men, aged 39 and 52.
Five other people were also charged, and two vehicles and a city building were seized.
According to the report, the investigation began in August 2022 following a report of a possible robbery with a firearm, but during the course of the police investigation it was discovered that it was a drug trafficking situation.
The SP also states that the two detainees, one of whom has a criminal record for drug trafficking, are expected to attend their first judicial interrogation this Thursday for possible enforcement action.
The SP statement did not disclose either the location of the police operation or the court where the detainees will be taken for the first judicial interrogation.
Lusa was unsuccessful in contacting the joint venture for further clarification.
