The family of an Irish tourist who died in 2022 have decided to break their silence after being seen in Faro hospital for 48 hours.
A tearful Sonia, Robert Byrne’s mother, told Dublin Live her son was “horrified” after the “horrible treatment” he faced. “The appendix ruptured, burned the esophagus and opened a hole in the intestines. They left him alone in the corner, on a stretcher,” Sonya reports. The family’s lawyer says the hospital “gave Robert a green non-emergency bracelet and left the patient with no information,” adding that he “ultimately left the hospital without realizing the risk he was at risk.”
Robert Byrne, 27, died on his way back to Ireland as his plane landed in Dublin. The family has filed a lawsuit against the Faro hospital and is demanding compensation in the amount of 500 thousand euros.
