The world needs a new UN, said President of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly (Parliament) Numan Kurtulmuş, Anadolu reported on February 22.
During his speech at the 14th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Baku, within the framework of a debate on the situation in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip, he criticized the existing world system.
As Kurtulmus stated, the concept of global enmity gains strength in times of crisis. According to him, Russia’s current special military operation in Ukraine is turning into a large-scale conflict between Russia and the West.
“The conflict between the West and Russia must be resolved as quickly as possible so that it does not globalize”said the politician.
Kurtulmus also focused on the conflict between Israel and Palestine. He noted that the conflict “demands that humanity speak as one”.
He expressed the view that such conflicts highlight the weakness of the existing international system. “A new UN and a revised international structure are needed to effectively solve the world’s problems.”added the head of the Turkish parliament.
Let us remember that the 14th plenary meeting of the APA began in Baku. The topic of the session was strengthening regional cooperation in Asia. Delegations from almost 40 countries participate in the meeting.
