The Estonian Ministry of Culture refused to finance the screening of the upcoming Paralympic Games due to the admission of Russian athletes to the state broadcasting company ERR, Delfi reports on February 23.
“The Paralympic Games have never been broadcast live on any Estonian television channel and will not be broadcast live on ERR in 2024, since the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) decided to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the competition” .says the message.
The cost of acquiring the broadcasting rights for the Paralympic Games, which will be held from August 28 to September 8 in Paris, amounts to around 50,000 euros, funds that had to be provided by the state treasury.
Let us remember that the position of the Estonian State is not to allow representatives of Russia and Belarus to participate in international sports competitions. In the republic it is also considered unacceptable for local athletes to participate in the same competitions as Russian and Belarusian athletes.
