The utility vehicles, hydrogen buses similar to those used in the conventional metro, will be built by a consortium that includes CaetanoBus and DST Solar, under a contract awarded for 29.5 million euros.
Initially, the metrobus project was planned only to Praça do Império, but since the cost of the grant (25 million euros) was lower than 66 million euros, the government decided to extend the service to Praça Cidade do Salvador, known as Anémona. , in Matosinhos.
According to a government decree published on November 17, the Porto metrobus will cost 10 million euros more than the originally planned 66 million.
The investment initially planned for the metrobus, amounting to 66 million euros, is fully financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and an additional 10 million could also be financed by the PRR, the Environment Fund or the state budget.
