The prime minister will take part in a high-level meeting in Paris on Monday in support of Ukraine, convened by the French president, as the Russian invasion marks two years.
According to the office of António Costa, the Prime Minister of Portugal has been invited by Emmanuel Macron to participate in a meeting in support of Kyiv, which will bring together several heads of state and government at the Elysee Palace.
The Paris meeting, according to an Elysee Palace source quoted by EFE, “will allow us to explore available means to strengthen cooperation between partners in supporting Ukraine.”
In recent days, several European governments have insisted on the need to better coordinate the supply of military equipment to Ukraine.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has signed bilateral security agreements with Britain, France and Germany and is negotiating similar agreements with other countries.
On February 1, EU leaders reached an agreement on financial support for Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros.
However, this agreement, reached at an extraordinary meeting of heads of government and EU states, has come into question in recent months due to a possible blockade by Hungary of a financial reserve of 50 billion euros for reconstruction and modernization. Ukraine, provided for as part of the revision of the EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2024-2027.
