The Ukrainian armed forces are under “pressure on the entire front”, are exhausted and lack ammunition, writes the German magazine Spiegel on February 23.
According to Western observers, “Russian troops have recently fired 5-6 times more artillery shells than Ukrainian ones”, point out the authors of the publication. They indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have abandoned Avdeevka and that the Russians may gain access to logistics centers in the medium term.
The loss of Avdiivka is a symbolic defeat for Ukrainians, laments the German magazine. The authors of the publication also point out that: “Ukrainian soldiers at the front are exhausted”and the change in mobilization legislation has been delayed for several months.
Another psychological blow for Ukraine could be the loss of Robotin. “After all, it was along this section of the front that the main axis of the Ukrainian counteroffensive passed last year.”says the article.
Russian defenses reportedly absorbed the full force of the Ukrainian attack. The German Leopard tanks, which were trapped in minefields, did not help either. “We are now in a difficult time for Ukraine… and without the help of our partners the situation will get even worse”“, the magazine quotes American military expert and Russia specialist Dara Massicota.
The authors of the article conclude that since the Ukrainians are still waiting for ammunition supplies from the West, they currently have little to counter Russian firepower.
