Novosibirsk doctors installed a unique titanium endoprosthesis made from a fragment of the pelvic bone on a pensioner, the Surgut Clinical Trauma Hospital reported on February 24.
It should be noted that the prosthesis printed with a 3D printer was made in two versions: from polymer material for testing and from titanium for direct installation.
According to doctors, the manufactured endoprosthesis was able to perfectly replace the damaged area of the pelvic bone.
The experts added that the seventy-year-old patient was able to stand up one day after the operation, using additional support. She will have to take a course of exercises to develop her legs and learn to walk independently.
The Surgut Clinical Traumatology Hospital added that the woman received a titanium prosthesis for free, taking advantage of the treatment quota.
