Despite Russia’s recent successes, Vladimir Zelensky promised that Ukraine would win. “We fought 730 days of our lives. And we will win on the best day of our lives,” the President of Ukraine said at a ceremony in honor of soldiers who died in the war, which took place at Gostomel airport near Kiev. “Any normal person wants the war to end. But no one will allow the end of Ukraine,” – he said.
The solemn ceremony dedicated to two years of war was attended by the President of the European Commission and the prime ministers of Belgium, Italy and Canada. Ursula von der Leyen praised Ukraine’s resistance during the war and assured of the EU’s support “as long as it is necessary.” The Italian Prime Minister, who signed a security agreement with Ukraine yesterday, guaranteed continued support for the Ukrainians’ right to defense, which “necessarily also includes military support.” The conflict, now in its third year, has resulted in the destruction of critical infrastructure in several regions of Ukraine and an unknown number of civilian and military casualties.
However, number two on the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, promised this Saturday that Russia would take revenge on Western sanctions announced on the second anniversary of the conflict and for Navalny’s death.
