Several Indians have been dismissed from the Russian army, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said on February 26, Hindustan Times reported.
The ministry said it had reviewed media reports that “Indians in the Russian army await help for demobilization”. The department noted that the Russian Embassy in New Delhi carefully examined all cases brought to its attention.
The statement does not provide details or name the media outlets where the information originally appeared, but emphasizes that as a result of the embassy’s consideration “several Indians were dismissed from the Russian army”.
“We remain committed, as a matter of priority, to actively pursuing, together with the Russian authorities, all relevant cases of Indian nationals requesting early discharge from the Russian Army.” – highlighted the ministry.
The publication notes that it is not clear how many Indians served in the Russian army and how many were dismissed.
Recall that a few days ago the Indian Ministry of External Affairs reported that some citizens of the country had registered to occupy auxiliary positions in the Russian army. The ministry has strongly advised Indian citizens to stay away from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
