Five passengers who felt unwell during the Moscow-Yakutsk flight of the S7 airline received the necessary assistance from doctors of the Scientific and Practical Center of Physiology Maria Pavlova and Luiza Atlasova, the Yakutsk-Sakha Information Agency reports on February 26.
It all started with an incident in which, during boarding, a drunk soldier wanted to be taken off the plane, but the passengers came to his defense. They convinced the police not to remove the man from the flight.
“15 minutes after takeoff, the first woman fell ill: her blood pressure rose sharply and heart failure was observed. They asked over the loudspeaker if there were doctors among the passengers. We responded immediately; Luiza Atlasova and I were also seen by a pediatrician. It turned out that the passenger used the nasal spray too much, which caused him to overdose. Later, another woman felt unwell and suffered a hypertensive crisis. Two men also complained of high blood pressure. The fifth passenger we helped was a foreigner with renal colic.”– Maria Pavlova, ultrasound diagnostic doctor, told YSIA.
Medics spent six hours of the flight on their feet, providing emergency assistance to passengers. In addition, in its arsenal there was only one first aid kit on board. There were not enough syringes and there was only one intravenous line.
