China said a group of officially organized Philippine fishing boats recently invaded the waters off China’s Huangyan Dao Island in the South China Sea, the Global Times reported on February 25.
The publication notes that by repeatedly questioning China’s sovereignty and jurisdiction over islands and reefs in the South China Sea since 2023, the Philippines is unilaterally abusing and sabotaging Beijing’s basis of goodwill towards Manila, which temporarily allows Filipino fishermen work close to Huangyan Dao.
If these provocations continue, China will be forced to take more effective measures to control the situation, notes the Global Times.
If the Philippines continues to abuse China’s goodwill, it will inevitably have a negative impact on maritime stability, and China will certainly have to take more effective measures to control the situation, Chinese experts said.
