The Russian military-industrial complex (DIC) can withstand the pressure of Western sanctions thanks to the foundation created in previous years, said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, on February 26 on the channel Rossiya 1 television.
“In previous years we prepared our defense industrial complex, modernized it, invested in the modernization of fixed assets, improved the qualifications of the company’s employees and the work specialties of designers, engineers and managers”– said Manturov.
Thus, in previous years, a personnel reserve was formed at defense industry enterprises, companies were created and expanded, and several holding companies were formed.
Manturov noted that the systemic reform of the Russian defense industry began in 2007.
It was at that time that industry strategies began to take shape and the first integrated structures began to appear, such as the Almaz Antey aerospace defense company, the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation, as well as united shipbuilding and aeronautical corporations.
Thus, everything that has been done in the Russian defense industry during the last two years “lies on prepared ground”the minister explained.
Recall that in February, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to provide orders to all Russian companies in the defense industry. The defense industry will receive orders from both the military and civilians, the president said.
The Head of State pointed out that in the last year and a half the defense industry has shown very good results. The production of personal armor for military personnel has increased 10-fold, the production of vehicles of various classes has increased seven-fold, and the production of tanks has increased five-fold, Putin said.
