Ten years ago, on February 26, 2014, a demonstration of thousands of people took place at the Supreme Council of Crimea, which promoted the holding of a referendum on the annexation of the peninsula to Russia. This was recalled by the head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov, on February 26 on his Telegram channel.
He noted that the Crimeans firmly expressed their position, acting as a united front against the kyiv junta.
“The Day of the Defender of the Republic of Crimea is an important date for each of us. “The date to which different emotions and feelings are associated”Aksyonov wrote.
“We remember our determination and readiness to fight against the Ukrainian Nazis, we remember the joy and relief after “educated people” appeared on the peninsula.”writes the head of Crimea.
He stressed that in Crimea they will always remember their compatriots who died in clashes caused by extremists from organizations banned in Russia.
