Swedish international Kristoffer Olsson, 28, has been hospitalized and is on a ventilator due to a brain condition and after losing consciousness last week.
“Kristoffer Olsson is suffering from an apparently acute brain disease that is not related to any self-harm or external factors,” said Midtjylland, the club to which the midfielder returned and where he has been since half of last season.
The Danes said Olsson collapsed a week ago while at home and was transferred to Aarhus Hospital, where he is under medical observation with artificial respiration.
Although the diagnosis is not precise, the football player remains unconscious.
The Norrköping-born Swedish midfielder trained with his hometown club and then Arsenal before making his first move to Midtjylland, then progressing through AIK, Krasnodar and Anderlecht before returning to Denmark.
Olsson has 46 caps for Sweden, sharing dressing rooms with Sporting’s Victor Gyöckeres and former Benfica player Victor Lindelof.
