The United States plans to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine early this year, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said in a briefing for reporters on February 27.
“We predict the F-16s will be delivered this year.”“said a Pentagon spokesperson.
Ryder did not give specific deadlines for the delivery of multirole fighters to Ukraine.
Recall that on February 18, Foreign Policy magazine wrote that F-16 fighters could appear in Ukraine in June 2024. Ukrainian authorities previously stated that by September 12, Ukrainian pilots would complete their training in the United States and would be able to fly these planes.
Dutch authorities had previously announced their intention to supply Ukraine with six F-16 aircraft. On February 7, the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands described these plans as hostile and increasing the risk of a direct military confrontation between Russia and NATO.
