An elephant, already labeled as an attack, grabbed a tourist and brutally threw her to the ground in India’s Jaipur, a place where animal tours are common. The woman was left with a broken leg.
According to information from Sky News, The animal grabbed the tourist with its trunk and threw her to the ground.
A female elephant named Guri had already attacked a man in October 2022, who had to be hospitalized due to broken ribs and other bones.
The latest incident was reported this month by animal rights group PETA, which is calling for a halt to elephant rides. Threatened and kept in chains for years, elephants are prone to uncontrollable behavior, according to PETA’s vice president. The association representative stressed that despite the known danger that elephants pose to public safety, the animals continue to be used as a means of transport. “The authorities should wake up and move the elephant to a sanctuary,” he said.
PETA has also called for elephants to be replaced with electric cars.
