The Government of Moldova this year introduced customs rules that require Moldovan companies Transnistria pays import duties to the country’s budget. The Minister of Economy of Transnistria said at the congress that this change reduced customs revenues to the region’s budget by 18%.
According to the text of the resolution of the congress of senior officials, “economic and social pressure is being exerted on Pridnestrovie, which directly contradicts European principles and approaches to the protection of human rights and free trade.” The ministers agreed to “apply to the Federation Council and the State Duma of Russia with a request to implement measures to protect Pridnestrovie in the face of increased pressure from Moldova.”
